Ivan from Croatia writes in:

Hi,
I like to read your blog, it's one of the first things I do each morning. Today I was surprised I
couldn't open it, but later it was accessible. It's great and you have a lot of great pics!
I'm sending you a photo of my work, so that you can see what we are doing through the winter, here
in Croatia.

Thank you Ivan!  Great bike!  I like the all the upgrades.
We're all good now folks.  Looks like just a google glitch although from what I've read a lot of bloggers got it MUCH worse.

Reader Ride. A mercy purchase leads to a cool Cafe...

Keith Montgomery writes in:

To me a bike that doesn't need to be worked on or"fixed up" is of no use.
I bought this one from a guy whose house burned and the bike was kinda sitting out in the drive for a long time. I was visiting my friends shop,  Monster M4 Suzuki one day and I stopped and left a card with my name on it for the owner to call  if it was for sale.
Sixty dollars later it was sittin in the garage. now what I thought. it was a total junk yard dog. There was decent compression so it HAD to run, right?
The points had been clubbed to death with a dull hatchet but what the heck.  Thanks to my cost+10 deal I have at a friends shop/salvage yard it was sparken.  About 40 dollars worth of cleaning supplies and a LARGE hand full of quarters fed into the car wash it was clean enough to actually start screwin with.  Tapered steering stem bearings, a doner battery, a seat unit and an OLD pair of clubmans I had been saving for 20 years, this and that I scrounged from my goodies and a few pieces from the salvage yard...
I stripped the tank and sealed it with the very effective Caswell tank sealer, fixed a leaky petcock, re-jetted the cleaned carbs to suit the pod filters, new tires/chain cog, a little front brake mod to get in the vicinity of actually slowing down, tilted the pipe up to my likink and cut the end of the cannister to reveal the"reverse megaphone" hidden inside and a bit of elbow grease...it actually rides quiet nice.  If i didn't need the money I'd wanna keep it. I get attached to bikes that need love....

Thanks Much Keith! I hear ya on all of it.  I love to save lost causes.   Just my 2 cents here but you should hang on to it.  Get a pair of rearsets on there and a spend a little more time on the details and I bet you'd never want to sell it.  You've already done the hard parts. Go take a look at Wrenchmonkees. Those guys would have that thing in a private collection without too much effort. I'd think hard about it before letting it go.  Thanks again!

Reader Ride! A Killer Katana From Iceland!

I'm pretty sure this is our first Icelandic Bike! And what a great way to start! A lot of people didn't/don't like the styling of these bikes. I don't know why exactly. Yes it was very different at the time and there hasn't been much like it since but I personally wish there was more bold design like this from Japan.

Anyway, thank Much Duddi!
Here is my Katana 1982
1428cc Wiseco big bore and more and more.......

Reader Ride. Probably THE Nicest Custom GS1000S On The Planet.

Shannon Hayes Writes in.

Here are some pics of my GS1000S project bike, The guys at Yoshimura put it on there web site under fan photos, so I was thinking you guys might like to see it? I put it together from a 1979 GS1000 and lots of bits from my friends atSteel's Cycle Salvage, the forks, swingarm, wheels, and brakes came from a GSF1200, and oil cooler, levers, and foot pegs from a GSX-R 750. The motorand amazing carb conversion was done buy Eddie at Sisneros Speed Works, the carbs are from a late model FZ1 and the motor has a Wiseco big bore kit. The paint and body work was done by DJ at Str8 Customs. I did the extensive fabrication work myself, but with out my friends It would not have been possible. I hope you guys enjoy the pics and story.

That's just... damm.. I'm just speechless.  Thanks VERY much for the pics including yesterdays CB750 Cafe and tomorrow's X-Strom

Reader Ride. Some Sweet Suzuki SRAD Fighter Action

Joe Dunderdale sent in this great Streetfighter build.

He writes:
I thought I'd send you a few pictures of my bike.
Its a 1998 GSXR 750 SRAD Street fighter, a modern interpretation of the Cafe Racer and in my opinion by definition a bike that is lighter and kicks out more power than its stock counterpart.

Specs:
1998 GSXR 750 SRAD FRAME
2001 GSXR 1000 ENGINE, HARNESS, CLOCKS, FUEL PUMP RETROFITTED IN THE 98 TANK.
LASER CUT SUBFRAME, ENGINE MOUNTS,
YOSHIMURA TRS SHORTENED TO 300 MM
KX MOTORCROSS BARS, CUSTOM BAR MOUNTS

147 HP 60LBS LIGHTER THAN THE 2001 GSXR 1000

That is freaking awesome! I love the raw metal look.  Thanks for the pic!

Maybe THE Coolest Suzuki EN125 On The Planet!

Another Great Build from Hajarboxx Motorcycles.  See more of their stuff HERE!  And HERE!

Gifney writes in:
Hello,

How are you doing? Just want to share our latest work. The donor bike is an Suzuki EN125, and the owner wanted a two-seater that could go through the rain (he meant some useful fenders :D), and he also wanted to change the frame and the seating position, so we change the footpegs position and gave him a taller bar. The tank is fron an old Suzuki GP125, and the battry box is a modified Suzuki A100 carb filter box. The fenders are customized honda CB100's. No major works withthe suspensions. As always (been too busy to set up new blog/site! :) ) you can check the building process here ( http://www.facebook.com/gifny.richata#!/album.php?aid=27446&id=115078248506795 )

Have a nice day!!
cheers,

Reader Ride. BADASS DR650 Streetfighter / Motard.

Mike Sternick writes in:
Good Morning,
Its a 2003 Suzuki DR650 with a few mods and it gos like stink!
Cheers!

Later he updated me with some build details:
Hey Steve,
Thanks for your comments.Like you said great handling bike just cluttered and a little ugly. The rear rim is a stock 17" the front I changed to 18" it balanced the profile and lowered it an inch. The front and rear suspension were lowered 3" and still has 7" of travel.I cut about 12" off the back frame and welded a new hoop.Seat pan is stock with new foam. The tank is off an old Harley and mounted like the factory. The exhaust, side panels and head light bracket are all one off made by me.The oil cooler I remounted off the front of the frame. All the old tabs were cut and ground off to clean up the frame. The stance of the bike came out perfect and I can still lower it an inch front or rear. The motor is stock except for the pipe, jet kit and K&N filter.Tires are Scorpion A/Ts.The bike is for sale so I can start a new project over the winter.

I'm not interested in becoming a for sale site but if anyone's interested I'll get you Mike's Contact info. I think it great and I'd seriously consider buying it myself but I've alead got a DR650 (much more stock) that I'm modding.
